Guest presentations
Bob Cooke is with WVACA (Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Association. He was at our meeting as a representative to get our help to come up with projects to spend HOT funds on. HOT will generate about 20k month. They would like to see some comprehensive rack cards or booklets for Wimberley. We could get some cards/booklets done through Certified Folders. They take care of routes that service racks in hotels, visitors centers, etc. He would like the WMA members to contribute some seed money (5k) in exchange for an ad in the booklet/cards and the HOT funds could fund the remainder for the routes. 15k per year would pay for routes from Wimberley to Houston and Wimberley to Austin. He is asking for volunteers from WMA to assist with brochure design and organizing money collection. WMA would need to nominate a spokesperson to present the idea for ads/seed money to businesses.
Minutes
Minutes from last meeting were not read in the interest of time, but we all had copies that we had reviewed.
Bren motioned to accept minutes and Melissa seconded.
Treasurer’s Report
Melissa Kibby presented Treasurer’s report.
Jacque motioned to accept Treasurer’s report and Tanya seconded.
Old Business
Wine Walk Mar 31 went well for most all businesses. It would be good to have music all around the downtown area for the next one.
We need to get out more and better advertising for Third Thursday Wimberley.
Mustang Car Show – we need to let David know if you have parking spaces available and how many. Tammy will send out a reminder email.
Mary is getting 5,000 Shoppers Guides printed. Rack cards with WMA events are available at Rancho Deluxe and Wall Street Western. Jacque suggested stuffing the Shoppers Guides with a flyer.
Texas Travel Counselor Conference in San Marcos will be through Wimberley on April 28. Remember to get your rack cards/business cards/coupons to Traci at On A Branch before April 15 to put in goodie bags. She needs 100 of them.
Bren has been doing some research on shuttles for special events and for Market Days. CAPS buses are $15 hour to pay driver and we pay gas. We would designate a route and put up Shuttle Stop signs. We would like to run them from 11 – 6 on those days. Tanya made a motion to start a shuttle running on Market Days and Shari seconded. Bren will coordinate with CAPS for special events.
BBQ Battle will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016. Net proceeds benefit MYNK and Barnabas Connection. We currently have 13 cookers confirmed. If you would like a cooker in front of your shop, it is a $100.00 sponsor fee. Wine and beer bars will be set up at Wimberley Café and Rancho Deluxe. Robin said Ben E Keith is donating for BBQ. Broken Glass is headliner band. We also have Darrel Ayres, Heather Wiley and Whitney McRae.
Melissa is working with Angie on liability policy that will include alcohol liability.
Update on flags – Mary had a quote from Eagle Flags previously for $29 per flag. We need to take care of getting new flags.
New Business
We would like to get someone to do our P/R or assist with Website/Newsletter/Social Media. We need suggestions for someone that may be able to do this. We need help with getting advertising pushed out for our community events.
Adjournment - ???
Respectfully submitted,
Tammy Steen, Recording Secretary
